This article is dedicated to the medical insurance covered by VZP for UA refugees under temporary protection.
If you have prolonged your temporary protection, your medical insurance will automatically be prolonged. You will also get a “spare insurance VZP card” that is valid according to your current temporary protection:
- Until 30th September 2024: if you have obtained a confirmation from the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy about registration for temporary protection (you can find information about prolonging your temporary protection in our Lex Ukraine dedicated article here)
- Until 31st March 2025: if you have already personally visited a branch of the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy and you have a new visa document with the prolonged temporary protection
For a new insurance card, you can apply here (in Ukrainian) after 5 days of prolonging your temporary protection. Please, keep in mind that you cannot apply sooner that these 5 days.
The information about prolonging your temporary protection status is uploaded to the VZP system automatically, which is why, after checking your information, you can download the insurance card directly into your phone or you can print it out without the need for a personal visit of one of the VZP branches.
In necessary cases, you can also apply for a spare insurance card directly by visiting one of the VZP branches. You will need to bring your current insurance card alongside with your document about prolonging your temporary protection status.
