Description

Family Next Door is a casual, friendly meeting of Czech families and Ukrainian refugee families around a set table.

Sharing meals naturally helps integrate foreign families into the Czech environment and offers a space for exchanging cultural experiences. At these meetings, participants not only eat, but also share stories, traditions, and experiences. People ask about the origins of foods, learn about customs, and sometimes exchange recipes. Such gatherings often create new friendships and connect people with common interests.

Family Next Door won the SozialMarie award for social innovation in 2011 and was also recognized by the European Commission.

Since 2004, nearly 1800 families, totaling over 5000 people, have met in this way over a shared meal. Experience a different kind of lunch with a family next door, too! Sign up now.

To register, please use this registration form. There you provide your basic details and choose whether you want to host or prefer to visit.

Registered families are matched based on age, hobbies, language, and participants' place of residence, to have as much in common as possible. One family takes on the role of hosts, the other the role of guests.

All costs for the meal are covered by the project. Hosts only need to provide receipts for reimbursement.
