In this article you will find information about what you need to do if you are leaving Czech Republic permanently. The article informs about specifics you need to do if you are an EU citizen, or if you are a non-EU citizen and you are ending your stay in the Czech Republic.

 

If you have made the decision to leave Czech Republic permanently, you need to end your stay or residence. In the following paragraphs, you will find the steps you have to undergo.

 

I am a UA citizen leaving the Czech Republic:

I am an EU citizen and I am leaving the Czech Republic:

  • You need to hand in your long-term stay permit in any Ministry of Interior’s office
  • Hand it in at least 3 days before you end your stay
  • You can hand it in person or by post
  • If you’re handing it in by post, you need to send it as recommended delivery or as a valuable mail

I am a non-EU citizen and I am leaving the Czech Republic:

  • You need to hand in your biometric passport in any Ministry of Interior’s office at least 3 days before the end of your stay
  • You can do it in person or by post

If you found yourself in a situation where you lost your employment – your employment card expires 60 days afterwards. In this time period you need to announce the change of your employment.
